So whether you’re wondering how to become a wedding videographer, or a better wedding videographer, this is a post for you.

You can find all kinds of info about my education for wedding filmmakers here, or keep reading to learn about my favorite aspects of this program.

What Is a Videography Mentorship?

A videography or filmmaking mentorship program allows an experienced professional to share their insight and expertise with someone else.

You can learn how to become a wedding videographer, improve your existing business, or ensure your equipment and process is fit for modern weddings.

Mentorship vs. Classes

Videography classes are great, but they have their limits. A class will follow a set curriculum, so you may be spending time learning skills you already know, or progressing too quickly for your level of knowledge.

Mentorships are one-on-one consultations that are tailored to you. We can talk about whatever aspect of the industry you want.

Mentorship vs. Independent Research

You can learn a lot online, and some of the best videographers use Youtube and Google to stay on top of trends and technology.

If you are self-taught or rely on internet research to develop your skills, a mentorship is a great way to ensure you get the best information possible. You can also ask any question you want and get a direct answer customized for you.

So if you’re hitting a wall with your research or want to make sure you’re getting actual expert advice, a mentorship is a great way to power up the info you’re gaining from online research.

Hawaii Helicopter Elopement

Being a wedding videographer requires hard work and focus, but it also comes with a lot of perks — like this scenic helicopter ride for a Maui elopement.

Who Can Benefit from Mentorship Sessions

Is a filmmaking mentorship program right for you?  If any of these apply to you, you may be a perfect candidate for this program.

  • You are an aspiring professional wondering how to become a wedding videographer.

  • You recently started your business and want to ensure you’re running it right and offering an excellent service.

  • You are a great videographer who needs help with marketing, bookings, or business management.

  • You’ve been in the industry a while, and it’s time to revamp your equipment, workflow, pricing, or business plan.

  • You feel like you sacrifice a lot of personal time with family and friends trying to run your business.

  • You want to book more clients.

  • You once loved filming weddings but lost some of your passion.

  • You have a lot of training or self-education, but your films still don’t look as good as other professionals’ work.

  • You get overly nervous filming weddings because you’re afraid you’ll miss a scene, lose footage, miss picking up sound, or have other technical difficulties.

  • You simply want to connect with another professional who is willing to talk openly about all aspects of wedding filmmaking.

How The Mentorship Works

I offer two types of mentorships: virtual and in-person. All in-person sessions happen in Maui, while my online program allows us to connect anywhere. They’re very similar because they’re tailor-made, conversation-style lessons that fit all skill levels. But there are key differences too.

Here is how each type of session works.

In-Person Mentorship

This is great for anyone wanting to become a Hawaii wedding videographer or far-off professionals wanting an excuse to visit Maui.

The in-person mentorship is composed of two sessions: filming and editing.

You’ll gain hands-on experience filming a real couple while I’m there with you. Learn your way around the camera or discover new techniques and tips.

Then we’ll edit the film together.

My In-Person Maui Mentorships gives you that start-to-finish experience of filming and finalizing a wedding video.

Virtual Mentorships

Not able to make it to Maui? No problem. My virtual sessions allow us to connect anywhere.

We can talk about any aspect of wedding videography, from the technical skills to the artistic craft to the business side of things.

Virtual mentorships are thorough as a one-time session, but you can rebook anytime you’re ready to learn more.

Who Is Your Mentor

I’m Caleb, the owner of and filmmaker behind No Ka `Oi Films, which provides Hawaii wedding videography that’s polished and joyful. I’ve spent years developing my craft and business, and I’m excited to share that with professionals who want to capture the emotions and beauty of wedding days.

I’ve learned from other experts, my own mistakes and successes, and the many couples who entrust me with their wedding day.

You want to learn how to be a wedding videographer, and I want to share my insight.

Pro Tip:

Hawaii sees a lot of weddings, and they typically happen throughout the week. So wedding vendors in Hawaii tend to gain a lot of experience due to this high demand.

My approach to mentorships is upbeat and attentive. I want to hear your concerns and questions and then provide solutions that work well for you.

Taking the Next Step

Are you ready to take your wedding videography business to the next level? Or ready to learn basics that are actually useful?

Let’s connect.

My videography mentorships are an investment toward your success, and it’s a bond you can return to whenever you need additional support.

The best part? You’ll be providing a better service to the many couples who will be thrilled to work with you.
