So listen in as we talk about the islands and our industry on this Hawaii wedding podcast

Bringing the Expertise to You

I’m lucky to work alongside some of the best wedding vendors in Hawaii: planners, venue managers, florists, photographers, rental companies, and caterers. They all come together to create amazing days for couples from all over the world.

They are also highly knowledgeable about weddings. These professionals have seen it all, and they carry that expertise with them. This Hawaii Wedding Podcast brings their knowledge to you.

It feels like you’re having in-depth conversations with Hawaii’s top wedding professionals, except I’m the one asking the questions. And trust me - I know what questions to ask.

I’m a Hawaii Wedding Videographer, and I’ve been with couples throughout their planning journeys and wedding-day moments. I know what they need and wonder about and miss. I know how to talk about weddings and understand the complexities of planning from afar.

Now you can join me in conversations with other great Hawaii wedding vendors who are eager to share their expertise.

Interviewing Real Couples

In addition to interviewing great vendors, I’m also sitting down with real-life couples who have wed in Hawaii. These are everyday people who have been through the planning process and gotten married.

We can learn from their mistakes and successes, and get the real scoop on what it’s like to marry in Hawaii. What surprised them about their wedding day? What would they change?

Listen in as they provide their unique insight about budgeting, planning, choosing vendors, and enjoying their destination wedding in Hawaii.

The Premier Episode: Trusting Your Vendors

I’ve already recorded some fun interviews for this Hawaii Wedding Podcast and am surprised by what I’ve learned so far.

“Hawaii Wedding Talks” launched with a great episode that will resonate with a lot of destination couples. I talked with Dmitri & Sandra Photography about trusting your wedding vendors, even if you’ve never met them.

You can listen to it here on the HWT website, or on Apple Podcast or Spotify.

We opened with an introduction to this husband-and-wife team and how they met as Maui luau photographers. Eventually, they became one of the most sought-after wedding photographers in Maui.

I also learned about how they refined their process to ensure they could focus on creating the best images possible. Tune in if you want to discover how film photography works for modern couples, especially in Hawaii’s tricky lighting.

PRO TIP:

This episode is also an excellent resource for up-and-coming Maui photographers who want to better understand the wedding industry and what couples look for.

Dmitri and Sandra also talked about how they gain trust with destination couples who don’t travel to the islands before their weddings.

“Most of our couples seek us because they like our work, how we approach things, and how we service them,” Sandra said. “So by the time the day comes, they are 100% trusting and let us guide them.”

But how can couples better trust their vendors? Ahead are some of the best tips they shared in this episode.

Advice & Insight from this Hawaii Wedding Podcast Episode

  • Since most Hawaii and Maui wedding couples are planning from afar, they don’t get to meet most of them before booking. So they have to present themselves in a way that really highlights their experience and trustworthiness.

  • Engagement sessions are a great way to connect with your wedding photographer before the big day.

  • Dmitri & Sandra have shot weddings worldwide, but they said Hawaii’s lighting is especially tough. Their local experience and know-how are invaluable for couples wanting amazing photos.

  • A local vendor can provide peace of mind, since they have such great knowledge and don’t have to deal with long-distance travel. So while it may be more difficult to trust them at first, they actually come with less risk than mainland photographers.

Best of all? You’ll get to picture your own wedding day better. It’s like you’re traveling to Hawaii, talking to multiple vendors, all from home.
